2012 marked the 34th annual running of El Paso County Search and Rescue's Rescue RunTM. Every New Year's Day EPCSAR holds the event in Colorado Springs with a 5K, 10K and children's run. Our motto is "rain, snow, or 20 below" making this run a true institution in the local running community. Proceeds benefit EPCSAR and serve as a significant fundraising activity for our team. The Rescue RunTM has become increasingly popular in recent years.
Local merchants provide many prizes to award runners. Prizes are given for placing both overall and in different age categories. In addition, a number of raffle entry prizes are awarded, making this a unique running experience.
We are fortunate to partner with the Pikes Peak Road Runner's Association in carrying out this event. PPRRA staffs two aid stations, provides entry and registration services, and provides race timing. EPCSAR reciprocates this generous donation by providing medical and rescue services along with traffic control at PPRRA's Winter Series events and the Pony Express Run. This is a great example of how two volunteer organizations are able to support each others' efforts.
